"So come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things,
and your heart will fly on wings, forever, in Never Never Land!"
"Living is no laughing matter: you must live with great seriousness like a squirrel for example - I mean without looking for something beyond and above living, I mean living must be your whole occupation" - Nazim Hikmet
This fellow is looking at or rather staring at you, may be he don’t like being photographed, LOL. About the quote i dont think i fully agree with that opinion. Wont that make us selfish and preoccupied with ourselfs? juz my 2 cents.
Yea K, that fellow was in fact lookin/staring at me with a 'what do you want??' look. i could almost hear it.
Abt the quote, i didnt see any reference on 'selfishness' there. Maybe I read it in a different light which tells every human being to live their life as it is without looking for something above or beyond. Most people lament their past and worry about their future and forget the present.
As long as it doesnt hurt anyone else i feel it is quite alright to be essentialy selfish and preoccupied with ourselves. ahem! Do i see any raised eyebrows here??
zap, maybe we are misinterpretin the quote.we dont know the authors context or standpoint.
for someone poor, sometimes in life, jus fulfillin ones responsibility and taking care of the family's need day is the single important thing.i read ur blog on the plight of the poor in india (hats off to u) and am sure u understand that.
maybe thats wha the author is tryin to say.am jus guessing.
reminds me of a story of a king and his astrologers.the kings asks two astrologers to check his horoscope and tell him wha they think.
one comes bak and says 'sir, all ur relatives are going to do die one after the other and u r going to witness and suffer'. the king in fury, orders the astrologer to be jailed.
the other comes bak and says 'sir, u r going to live longer than others around u'. the king is fairly pleased.
it is also how about how it is said and how it is interpreted.
maybe we should give nazim, the benefit of the doubt and leave the quote.
whoa!! A long story for a one liner! haha! thanks for taking the pains oyster, really appreciate it. I was just trying to link the quote with my current state of mind thats all... your point is well taken...
